Ms. Julie R. Dr. Jorge L. Herrera is Professor of Medicine and Assistant Director, Division of Gastroenterology at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile, Alabama. Dr. Herrera received his M.D. from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine, San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1979. He completed an Internal Medicine residency at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Denver, Colorado, and a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. in 1986.
Dr. Herrera has an active hepatology practice and is a clinical investigator in the area of hepatitis C diagnosis and therapy. He has published articles and book chapters on the management of liver disease, including hepatitis C infection.
